Good coaching starts with safety. There is a lot more to the craft of coaching, but safety is our basic starting point. If kids and their families are not safe in every way - physically, mentally, emotionally, safe from sexual abuse, from bullying, from bad behavior, etc etc. then the kinetic learning environment we love can't do what we want it to.
To learn the craft of coaching, we have to look past the scoreboard and see our kid's future. We have to look closely past the mirror into ourselves. And we have to adjust our internal compass to stay focused on the North Star our kids and families need to navigate life successfully.
Coaching is not about the coach or about winning youth soccer games. It's about learning to tune in, to communicate, to lead, and to use a kinetic learning environment to better the world around us.
We empower people in the Arête Athletics Federation™. We bring our best to competition, but we pick one another up and help one another get stronger on and off the pitch when the game is done.
